Hey
I've heard some sad stories lately on parents switching their children's heart meds. To be specific there has been some study to show that Losartan (a heart medication) does something positive to MD mice. Desperate parents have switched their DMD childs heart meds to start taking Losartan. While I understand their desperation, several DMD children have died as a result, since stopping and starting heart medications is very stressful on the heart and can cause death in of itself. There are plans to have a human trial of Losartan on DMD children, so there really is no need to do it on your own.....sign up for the study and get expert advice and assistance.
The sad news is that these deaths have put the human trial at risk, so the promise that this study has showed may have been wasted by over eager parents. So....please don't fool with heart meds without consulting your cardiologist. If you don't like your cardiologists opinion, find a different one and get more advice, don't take it up on your own.
