I am new to this site and first want to let you know that I lost my son, Jeff, last year - don't start worrying all of you new parents - it wasn't from his dystrophy. He actually developed gallbladder disease and because of his muscular disease his doctor's overlooked the gallbladder and unfortunately he became septic and died. I am on a personal crusade against the cavalier attitude of many of the doctor's involved in his care; as well as trying to education them about some of the issues related to Becker's and Duchenne that are contrary to treatment they prescribed (unfortunately I hadn't education myself enough to know what was causing the problems that arose). Currently I am looking for an attorney is very knowledgable about MD who would be willing to battle his physicians (hospitalists actually) regarding his untimely death. If anyone knows of such an attorney I would be glad to hear from you. I am living in Illinois.
More importantly I would be really glad to correspond with any parent who feels they need someone to talk to or cry to. This is such a long and arduous road - I was so taken by surprise by how quickly a stable MD person can go bad. My son was 30 and I thank God everyday that he was my child - that will never change. I will continue to fight for him, as I always did, for as long as I can.
I would love to hear from you, Jeff's mom |
