I will try and keep this short. Maybe that's why my post didn't go through. My fiance is 51 and diagnosed with "Duchenne type Muscular Dystrophy - Becker's variant" in 1973 at age 15. There has been progression over the years (of the lung issue specifically I mean) but right now he has a bad hacking cough that will knock him to the ground if not braced and a lot of greeny/yellowy phlegm. He's had that for many years but used to have breaks. It's really wearing him down now more than before and he will sometimes say his chest hurts. Not a sharp pain sort but a heavyness in the chest from the phlegm, like someone sitting on his chest. Occasionally mentioned going to the Urgent Care to have it looked at but he things he will be okay until his appointment now. Is this related to the MD? He is seeing a doctor in December with me but hadn't seen a doctor about his MD since diagnosis.
He wanted me to add. At 11/12 he was told by doctor he had bronchitis. He was put on penicillin and was out of school for a *month* (sounds like more than bronchitis to me). Since then frequent chest colds, and dry coughs, but not constant. Then maybe 10 years now the phlegm added in. Seems to be increasing phlegm and now it's been constant for I'd say 3 years or so. It didn't used to tire him out so either. It's really wearing him out now. |
