Hello
This diagnosis usually comes as quite a shock, since most people live fairly normally for a period of time before it appears. Personally I was 30 before I noticed anything at all and it wasn't until I was 35 that it was fully diagnosed.
I wish I was perfectly healthy, but I'm happy that it isn't worse. With the deletion I have, I should have had DMD which is much worse and causes severely short lifespan. I have the gift of a much longer time here on earth...even if it is a bit less than I had hoped. I choose to focus on the treatments that appear to be coming closer every day....and being in the best shape I can while I wait for more treatments to emerge. In the meantime, I'm living life to the fullest I can.
