Just make sure that if they go under general anesthesia for any reason that the latest guidelines for MD patients are followed. I had a surgery last month, and I assured the anesthesiologist that I was not a carrier. Still, she told me that in the event that a mistake had been made and I do, in fact carry the disease, if I was given certain substances, it could be fatal. Up until she told me that, I didn't realize that it was so important to know about carrier status if going under general anesthesia. |
