I have found that exercising in a swimming pool is helpful to me, but I can't do lap swimming - the exercise is too intense and continuous - one lap is too much, I get very weak and sore. I think everyone is different and you obviously have to try some things and figure out what works and doesn't work for you.

Good point. Everyone is different and their experiences will vary. I am still able to swim laps, but not at the pace of most people in the pool. I usually alternate breast stroke and freestyle to keep from wearing down any one set of muscles too much. Do you enjoy being in the water if it is not structured (lap) swimming? Kevin

my sons find just being in the pool helpful. they get to move muscles that usually don't want to move alot. We go to courage center pool at 92 degrees once a week.

I think swimming was a great help to me when i was younger and probably kept me fitter for longer. However, i did need some pushing at times. :)
