I was wondering if anyone could either point me in the right direction or give me samples of home exercises I can use with my fiance. He is 38 yrs old and has BMD. He has been in a wheelchair for numerous yrs and the last time he had physical therapy was when he was 33 (we just recently confirmed his suspicions that they were doing the PT wrong). I would like to have some exercises I could use on him to help him try to keep the strength he still has in his upper body and legs. I am a Certified Medical Assistant so I'm not afraid to do this, I just want to make sure I do the right ones. Please let me know when u can. I really appreciate any help I can get. Thank you in advance!!! Heather

Hi Heather, I'm not sure what type of excerises would be good for your boyfriend but there's a wonderful website that has alot of useful Therapy videos on it. There's alot of nice excerises on there to work the ankles, trunk, ham strings, shoulders etc. I actually found the website thur this website. It's the one Kevin recommended www.cyberpt.com I'm planning on trying them on my son who has Beckers. Hope this helps in some way.

The post had an extra '.' at the end which sent it to the wrong site. I've tweaked the posting to point to the correct Physical therapy site...give it another try. Kevin

I Heather, have you heard about the Bowen technique of physiotherapy? I'm a 41 year old BMD sufferer and find helpful. On the Bowen website it indicates that it is used on MD sufferers. I am almost wheelchair bound, but find the technique helps to maintain my range of movement in my shoulders, neck and hips. Try website: http://www.bowen-technique.co.uk/. Hope this helps you in some way.

Regards
