Sometimes I find myself thinking of what a treatment for MD would be. would it be in a pill form, injections? and sometimes I think of ways scientists should be trying to treat it. I think that they should find some way to protect the muscle from being damaged or after we work out take something so that our muscles heal properly. I just wanted to know if anybody else out there has ever thought about stuff like this. Lets pretend for a second that you were a scientist, how would you try to treat the disease? be creative.

Sure I have thought about it and talked to doctors about it, but to me its like asking myself: Are we alone in the universe? :) I would love to hear other ideas! One thing I thought about is, what if everyone with BMD (or any kind of MD for that matter) pitched in funds to one common researcher or doctor whose purpose is to find a cure. It seems the efforts to finding a treatment arent united. There are people around the world with the disease and parents of children with the disease. What if we all could work together...

I think thats a great idea and that we should all do that. And, just focus on BMD, cause DMD has a lot of scientists already looking to treat it. But there aren't many, if any scientists looking to find a treatment for just BMD. We should all raise money and give it to one group of scientists. How do we go about doing that? does anybody know??? and how many people would join us?

We will be announcing a new non-profit just specifically for BMD at the August conference in Boston. I agree completely, about half of the solutions that are being studied for DMD are not applicable to BMD. So we need to make sure there is a focus on treatment and solutions specific to our needs. I would start by making a prosthetic electric pelvis and implantable quad muscles

I was just talking to a co worker about wanting to make money off of research and support groups to go toward BMD research. Like doing conferences and stuff related to bmd and the search for the cure. Lets do this. We can learn it shouldnt be hard. I believe every state has grants set aside for certain research groups all over
